In the fall of 2006, a 9.3 acre site north of the city was donated to the church, and the congregation voted 96% in favor of building new facilities at this new location. A building committee was formed and has been giving direction to the design and construction, working with Harold Funk Architect of Winnipeg and Fillmore Construction of Edmonton, our Project Manager.
Construction began in October of 2008, and while we encountered some delays early this year, we are still planning on a move-in date somewhere in early 2010. We have been very blessed to have great contractors working with Fillmore on this project, and we pray for continued safety for all those involved in the construction.
Once completed, our new 60,000 square foot facility will include a full gymnasium, a café, library, nursery, office space, a children’s wing and an auditorium that will seat close to 1200 people! The building is also designed to be expanded in the future, to add more classrooms and meeting rooms.
We are very excited about moving into our new “home,” and look forward to welcoming many old and new friends to join us when we do!
